My Review:
Take Me Home Tonight was decent for the fact that we aren't getting the totally broken hero searching for or not searching as it were - a female to give him purpose in his life to redeem him of what he holds onto so much in every fiber of his being.
I wish there had been less wish wash of progress since it felt like every time Cal took a step forward he would take ten back and that got annoying after awhile but it was nice seeing him sort of come out of his shell. All in all I thought Take Me Home Tonight was a decent read.

hit and miss

I've never read this author, she was new to me. I liked her writing style and the storyline. for me, though, it was hit and miss with the delivery.
first let me start with my biggest issue, Shay. don't throw an ex at me and not resolve it. I thought the issue was handled by Calix in the beginning but she just kept popping up. then the beach, the hospital, the backyard. but no matter how much having her around hurt Mimi, it wasn't addressed or resolved with anything than an I'm sorry. that was a pretty big hit between the hospital and backyard..and I'm sorry, I'm sorry, wasn't enough for me. Mimi spoke her mind and was vocal about everything and I really needed this handled.
second, his mom. having her come back, out of her shell, literally brought tears to my eyes. Erica did it perfectly. it wasnt immediate, it was gradual, it was realistic.
Calix. I'm sorry but saying he screwed up is putting it mildly. and it wasn't just once. it was continuous hot and cold, mess up after mess up.. this was the hit and miss part for me. If you're going to give me a man who messes up as bad as he did, I need more than coffee, texts and showing up. I just needed more from him as a way to show he was sorry. his words didn't do it for me, and his actions weren't enough. now. their interactions together were hot and I love what Mimi did for him and his family.. and I will admit when we discussed Hopper, my eyes may have been leaking a little. but it still didn't cover his dick moves.
so while it may have been hit or miss, I still liked it. was glad to be introduced to a new author. a 3.5 star for me

Freaking Loved It

Erika Kelly has now won a place as one of my top authors. This book was extraordinary and I am confident it will be a top seller. You can see some Erika's personality in her work and will leave you hungry for more.
Mimi Romano is working hard to prove to her skills to her father. She has always dreamed of working for him and be part of his team. After winning a chance to be a participant in a big competition cooking show she wants nothing more than to win.
Calix Bourbon is a season Keyboard player to a big upcoming band. Tragedy has broken his family and guilt has kept his life on hold. Now he has to find way to survive this girl that has gotten under his skin and made him want more from life.
Agreeing to help Mimi by giving her cooking lessons Calix hopes it will bring back his mom who has been lost in her pain. Mimi is the only person who brings out the real Calix she loves to see him free and she can't help challenging him or putting her foot in her mouth. No matter how hard he fights the pull she keeps digging harder into his heart.
5 stars very different than what I'm used to reading its funny, sexy, and very well written. Loved the references to the tv shows since we are familiar with it.
