Eating and Losing

My daughter and I started the EASY DIET, both about a week ago. I've lost 4 pounds and she has lost 6. We eat twice a day, 6 hours apart, with our last meal at least 6 hours before sleeping. We eat whatever we want. We only drink water and herbal tea with xylitol between meals. If I get too hungry at night, I have some broth before bedtime. It was hardest on the first day, but has gotten easier. It feels more difficult to think about cheating or quitting than it does to keep doing it. After I lose the weight that I want to, I'm going to go to 3 meals a day with the last meal at least 3 hours before sleeping. Six small meals a day never worked for me. I just wanted to keep eating and eating and eating more than I should. This way is working for me so far! I get so excited for mealtime, especially knowing that I can enjoy whatever I want!

Eat and get thin

As many Americans and others across the globe will attest to, dieting in any shape or form does not work. However, understanding the causes of obesity and then how to remedy it is well described to take you from yo-yo dieting with its inevitable weight gain, to permanent weight loss and healthy lifestyle.

Misleading title. You can eat whatever you want as long as it's on the author's list of healthy foods.

I have Kindle Unlimited so this book was free for me to read. Within the first several pages of the book, we are told to eschew sugar, soda, white flour, brewers yeast, conventional meat and dairy, all of which are good ideas! The book promotes a diet full of organic fruits and veggies, organic raw dairy and grass fed meat, nuts, wild caught fish, etc. This book is more about eating clean and whole foods less often, not whatever you want. The author encourages a diet high in dairy and meat but eschews the plant-based diet, which we are told lacks the important nutrients that animal products can provide. However, solid unbiased research states otherwise. Virtually all macro and micronutrients (including protein, calcium and healthy fats) are originally found in plants, which is where the animal gets them. The author definitely seems to buy into "dietary guidelines" and "essential food groups". I wish everyone would read "The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Weight-loss, Diet, and Long-term Health". It is fascinating and clearly shows how our heavy meat/dairy based diet is linked to many diseases and obesity, as well as how our food industry (particularly meat and dairy) is driven by capitalism and politics. After 6 weeks of eating a plant-based diet and mostly avoiding meat and dairy, I had lowered my blood pressure, improved my cholesterol and lost weight. I slept better and noticed my energy levels greatly improve. My physician told me to keep doing what it was I was doing. :)
