Lots of angst, gore and suffering

I really did not like this series. The characters were flat and I truly felt sorry for the main characters. This story just wasn't about the trials that the characters went through, it was a non-stop series of tragic events. The demons were horrific, but it seemed that it was just a nonstop gore-fest. It reminded me of a really bad horror movie with the incessant violence, mutilations and constant character turmoil and loss.
I did read the entire trilogy in the hopes that there would be a respite from the strife but that didn't happen.
At this point I am not planning on reading any of the other Requiem books.

The beginning, at the end.

Fitting ending to the prequel series. The characters that have been mentioned in previous series are brought to life in the Dawn of Dragons series. Questions long unanswered are answered, and holes are filled in the history of this world.
Daniels writing flows well and keeps the story moving right up until the end. There are a couple continuity issues, but that's to be expected with prequels.
Read Dawn of Dragons, and then move on down the series. It's a wonderfully imagined world, full of believable characters.
