thoughts on bad to the bone

This book had some dangerous elements to it and at the end took a little bit to understand why all that happened did. To me the way that went down and the using of Uncle Jack and Sammie was all sorts of wrong. So many people got hurt for ones blind desire for revenge and to get what he wanted.
Sammie and Enrique were both flawed characters. Both with insecurities that were results of past relationships. In the grand scheme of things it made them never truly invested in the hot relationship they had because they never really trusted one another. Enrique was a little more understanding on the not telling Sammie everything afterall he was undercover but still his past could have been more told to her. They did open up to each other more than to others and became each others need. Their pull towards each other was amazing. It was like moths to flame. It was always palpable in the room-from the flirting to the serious conversations you could still see that attraction and understanding of each other.
Sammie overall was a good character. She had trust issues. Her worst was trusting herself. She felt if they looked the part of a bad boy than they must be and to stay away. She felt she only got attracted to bad guys. So that was where she put Enrique. This allowed her to always stay at arms length and never really trust him. She always found ways to justify this until the end. He did break those barriers but after he came to her aid and she found out the truth she was a wee bit hypocritical in her anger. I was glad that she finally gathered the courage to be with him and to do what she loved.
Enrique’s trust issues come from his ex-wife and her deception. It is understandable but in the end almost costs him everything. His life, his future everything. He is overall a good guy and you see his warring with himself throughout the novel as a growth within. One that shows he does love and is conflicted. he wants to trust Sammie but is afraid to. No matter what he is there for Sammie and is good at what he does. The love he has for her shines through all his protective actions, his flirting and teasing and the intimacy and sweet romantic moments they share.
The plot of the book keeps the story fresh. that added twist of a mystery as to what is going on around them and trying to solve what happened to land her uncle in jail keeps you on your toes.
A book that has danger, mystery, revenge plots and love. One that shows when we let others in we grow and blossom. We find ourselves and love. A fun read that is mysterious to the end as you try to figure out who the bad guys are and why everything is happening while a sweet and sexy romance is happening between two characters who are afraid to love and trust anyone but still find each other in the end.

Amazing!! Pretty unique plot, great character development with main characters that both have a past that haunts them.
Sammie drops everything in Rhode Island and flies to Florida the moment her beloved Uncle Jack is arrested and charged with distribution of drugs. She is determined to prove his innocence and is shocked when she arrives to learn that he has confessed to all the charges against him. Convinced that there is more than meets the eye, Sammie decides she isn't going anywhere until she learns the truth.
She reopens her uncle's bar, desperate to learn if anyone there knows who set her uncle up as she is convinced it is impossible to believe that her uncle was involved in drugs. At the bar she meets Enrique whom she initially believes is a local who likes to hang out at the bar after working at the construction site across the street. Little does she know that he is the undercover DEA agent who helped arrest Jack.
Enrique has been burned by women in the past and believes that Sammie must be involved in Jack's drug dealing. He decides to befriend her and get closer to her in order to determine how involved she is.
What neither of them expected was for a romance to develop, especially seeing that Sammie has sworn off all men after having her heart broken one too many times.
How will Sammie react when she finds out who Enrique really is? What will happen to Jack? Was Enrique using Sammie the entire time just to find out what she knows about the drug scene?

Love this story and some Bad Boys.

Sammie comes down to Florida, vowing to clear her uncle’s name and get him out of jail on drug charges. Sammie knows some dirty cop has set up her uncle based on some statements he has made to her. While there, she stays to run his bar in his stead and while there, meets this sexy Latin man, named Enrique. What she doesn’t know is that he is an undercover DEA agent sent to see if the niece is into drug running too. While he is scoping out the place and the niece, he finds there is more to the story , and it doesn’t take long for him to realize neither the uncle nor the niece are guilty of drug charges. Oh Sammie is guilty of liking the bad boys a bit too much and for that Enrique will help her get all she wants of the bad boy he is but for whatever else , Enrique has to decide if he is willing to stand up and help Sammie prove the charges are false and admit who he really is to her
The book had a good flow and I loved the strength Sammie had to give , to show. Oh and the fire she aimed at Enrique-WOW, I so didn’t want to be in his shoes when she found everything out. Whew! This is a romantic suspense/mystery almost like in the Fast& Furious style . I really enjoyed the outcome of this story and would love more from this author.
